The experts within Certified Valuations, Inc. are veterans of the Tax Court. We have been working with the court since its beginning 30 years ago, and prior to that, we worked with the Division of Tax Appeals. During this time, The Tax Court has twice appointed us as its Monitor in investigating revaluations gone bad. There is no other firm in the State that has received that recognition by the Court.
At Certified Valuations, we believe that it is important to protect the tax base. Therefore, our assessed values are accurate, realistic and supported by documentation. Just because an appeal has been filed is no reason to grant a reduction in order to settle the case. We vigorously assist municipal attorneys in their defense of fair assessed values and offer to settle cases only after it has been demonstrated that the valuation is too high, not just as a matter of expedience.
Our work in assisting assessors and municipal attorneys regarding tax appeals have included:
- Initial and supplemental discovery
- Chapter 123 analysis
- Review of property assessed value
- Assist attorneys in preparation for depositions
- Provide narrative reports for trial
- Assist attorney in preparation of cross examination
- In-depth study of taxpayer's report and taxpayer's comparables
- Negotiations for possible settlement, if warranted
- Testimony at trial
